Easy Vegan Steak

I used to like eating steak on a regular basis before going vegan. But now being the thought steak is a little disturbing. I had an idea to come plant based recipe which didn't involve any animal products at all!This beauty of a recipe. It's simple , delicious, and not to mention the marinade. Trust me youll love this.

Ingredients Seitan meat. 1/2 cup vegetable stock 1/2 cup mashed white beans 1 1/4 cup vital wheat gluten flour 2 tbsp tomato sauce

2tbsp Nandos medium sauce 1 tsp paprika 1 1/2 garlic powder 1 1/2 tsp onion powder 1/2 tsp ground black pepper 1/2 tsp salt

Marinade 6 tbsp soy sauce 1 tsp vegan BBQ sauce 1/2 tsp paprika 1/2 tsp onion powder 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1/8 tsp salt 1/8 tsp ground black pepper

Other oil for frying 4 tbsp oil for frying 3 tbsp non dairy butter 8-10 sprigs of thyme 6 cloves of garlic

Method: Step 1 In a large mixing bowl, add in all the seitan ingredients EXCEPT for the vegetable stock. and Mix well.

Step 2 Next add in the vegetable broth and knead for 3-4 minutes. If dough is sticky and spongy add a touch more flour, if dough is to dry add a touch of vegetable stock.

Step 3 Once the dough has been kneaded, divide it into 4 equal pieces.

Step 4 Take each piece of seitan dough and roll it out, until it resembles a thin (approx. 1/4") steak. Steam the steaks for 45 minutes.

Step 5 For the marinade, mix all marinade ingredients in a small bowl, until all the ingredients are combined. Add the marinade into a Ziploc bag and add in the steaks and allow the steaks to marinade for at least 1 hour. However overnight gets the best results when it comes to flavour. leave some of the marinade to drizzle on the steaks.

Step 6 Add in oil and dairy- free butter, into a pan . Place heat on medium and add in the steaks and place garlic into the pan and thyme on top of steaks. Cook two at a time.

Step 7 Using a spoon, scoop the butter and oil and pour it on top of the steaks while they brown, for juiciness. Flip the steak when it takes on some colour but NOT BURN. Do the same on other side.

Step 8 Remove from heat garnish with some black pepper and drizzle on marinade . Great sides with this vegan steak is green veggies and roasted potatoes. Serve up and ENJOY!
